Last weekend, Duke’s Southern Kitchen opened and I was lucky enough to be there to capture the weekend. The ambiance is amply cool; it’s like, hmmm, how can I put this? It’s like…where Southern meets Sexy. This isn’t like eating at Shiloh’s, I promise. (Sorry Shiloh’s. But really, does it come as a shock that you’re not cool?)
I know I don’t blog about food very often (and maybe I should do something about that!) but I at least need to mention a few things before I move on. First of all, you need to know about the fried chicken: Duke’s is one of only 5 restaurants in the US that fries their chicken in an iron skillet. How are we, Tulsanites, so lucky as to have one of the five? It’s beyond me. As you can see from the collage below, it gets deeper than just good ol’ fried chicken- red velvet cake with a chocolate ganache, blackberry cobbler, blackened redfish, delicious Cobb salad…we’re just getting started. Their menu far surpassed my expectations, and even I, the vegetarian food snob, was truly impressed.
I also need to address the entertainment. Umm, wow? I walked into this place a New Yorker and came out slapping the red dirt out of my jeans! Out of pure ignorance, I had never heard of The Red Dirt Rangers. Hearing them for the first time is like Christmas for your ears!
And last but certainly not least, is the John Wayne Bar. Too. Stinkin’. Cool.
Duke’s Souther Kitchen is located right next to the Spirit Bank Center, near 105th & Memorial. 918-364-3853 http://www.dukestulsa.com open daily for dinner after 4 PM

Hmmm, only 76%?! The other 24% must be crazy.
Andee & Jess’ Storybook Wedding
I’ve been anticipating Andee & Jess’ wedding for quite some time now- ever since I met Andee and her parents at her bridal session a few months ago. All three of them were such genuinely kind people, I figured that Jess must be a pretty special guy. Turns out I was right. Anyway, Jackey (of Storybook Weddings) and I showed up on Saturday to document the day for them. And what a gorgeous day it was…
The evening began with the happy couple seeing each other for the first time with the wedding party getting a glimpse-
Then, the beautiful ceremony-
And their gorgeous reception; check out the adorable favors!! LOVE them!
And of course, Andee & Jess-
To Jess & Andee, congratulations! We wish you the very best!

I walked in and immediately Nico began to show all of his Christmas presents. He was so proud! This is no ordinary 3 year old, mind you; he’s definitely a Harvard hopeful!
He knows what’s up!
